WHY WE CHOSE IT: America’s “Painter Laureate” Peter Max (b. October 19, 1937) turns 74 years old today. With his artwork on exhibition in hundreds of museums and galleries worldwide, Peter Max and his vibrant colors have become part of the fabric of contemporary culture.
Having enjoyed a relationship with Max since the 70s, today Park West Gallery is the pop art icon’s largest and longest-running dealer in the world—and so on this day we would like to wish him a very Happy Birthday!
