WHY WE CHOSE IT: Starting today through July 20, the new MIGreatArtist™ art competition is accepting online submissions.
The contest is open to visual artists, 18 years and older, who live, work or attend school in one of Michigan’s six Economic Growth Alliance counties: Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, Macomb, Oakland and St. Clair.
The public will vote online to choose the top 20 artists, from which a five-member jury of arts professionals—including artists Dominic Pangborn and Don Tocco—will select five semifinalists. The winner will be determined by a combination of jury score and public vote.
The MIGreatArtist winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize and more. Four runners-up will each receive $250 and other prizes.
