Happy Birthday, Pablo Picasso!

TITLE: “Le Vieux Roi (The Old King)”
ARTIST: Pablo Picasso
DATE: 1963
WHY WE CHOSE IT: Pablo Picasso (October 25, 1881 – April 8, 1973) was born 131 years ago today. The Spanish Cubist is unquestionably the most famous artist of the 20th century. In his artistic lifetime, lasting more than 75 years, Picasso created tens of thousands of works, including paintings, drawings, sculpture, lithographs, etchings, linoleum cuts and ceramics. Picasso changed art more profoundly in the 20th century, and had a greater influence on modern art, than any other artist in history.
“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” —Pablo Picasso
